Work Order Management

How to manage work orders with CMMS software. This video instructs on creating a work order and printing a work order.

Work Order Management Software

Work order management software is used to manage any type of work performed. Work orders may be created manually as needed or automatically. Automatic work orders are created from schedules or meters. A meter is a unit of anything such as "cycle", "days", "cuts", "pallets" or anything else. Schedules can be "Every _ Amount of Days", "Every Monday at 8:00 AM", "On the 15th of Every Month" and so on. These meters and schedules reset themselves and continue to create work orders if needed. Simple work orders requiring only two fields take seconds to create but offer the benefit of formally logging repair requests or work performed.

Work Order Management Software for Analysis

Work order management includes work order analysis as a way to determine the cost of labor and parts for a work order or group of work orders. These analysis scenarios are flexible and result in a report if needed. The report formats could be: Excel, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, Web Page and other CMMS data export formats.

Work order management data may be directly exported to the OLAP component (depicted above). OLAP or Online Analytical Processing offers unlimited options for data analysis and reporting. This work order management software system offers flexible and powerful work order analysis and work order reporting.

When to Use Work Order Management Software

Work orders are used for various purposes as described below:

  1. Project work orders. Work orders may be combined to create a composite work order.
  2. Repair work orders generally refers to work orders created in response to an equipment failure. A repair work order may be created automatically from a down time record.
  3. Preventive maintenance work orders are used to manage repetitive maintenance.
  4. Any type of work may be managed with work order management software. Type, Priority and Status fields are all used defined.

Work orders are the heart of any CMMS software system.  Our CMMS solution offers eight (8) different ways to create work orders; some are manual and many are automatic. The software also provides extensive analysis, charting and reporting on all work order activity.
